Veteran Johnson Wins First Fitness International Title
Veteran fitness competitor Tanji Johnson of Renton, Wash., notched the biggest IFBB Pro League win of her career when she won the Fitness International on March 1 at Veterans Memorial in Columbus, Ohio.
Johnson, who has competed as a professional more than 30 times, topped a field of 10 for her first Figure International title after finishing second in 2010 and 2011 and fifth in 2012. Johnson’s career wins include the inaugural Arnold Fitness Europe in 2011.
For the win, Johnson earned $25,000 and a Tony Nowak Originals Champions Jackets.
Oksana Grishina of North Hollywood, Calif., finished a career-best second and earned $13,000. Grishina finished third in the 2012 Fitness International before winning the Arnold Fitness Europe in Madrid in October 2012.
Bethany Cisternino of Bridgewater, N.J., was a career-best third and earned $8,000.
Also in the top six were fourth-place Trish Warren of Copper Canyon, Texas ($5,000), fifth-place Regiane DaSilva of Gudensberg, Germany ($3,000) and Ryall Vasani of Canada ($2,000).
Also competing in the 2013 Fitness International were Nicole Duncan of Oxford, Ga.,; Fiona Harris of Canada; Amanda Hatfield of Brunswick, Ohio and Kizzy Vaines of England.
