United Kingdom Filmmaker wins 2nd Annual Arnold Sports Film Festival
The International/Professional category overall winner was Peter Montgomery of the United Kingdom for his film, Manuel De Los Santos. In addition to an “Arnie,” Montgomery won a trip to California to visit Arnold Schwarzenegger on a movie set. The “Arnie” is a hand-sculpted, crystal statuette.
Juniors Nathan Murray and Vinny Bonta of Upper Arlington High School in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, won first place in the 2nd Annual Arnold Sports Film Festival high school division. Their film, Long Boarding and Stuff, bested 18 films selected for screening at the Festival.
Schwarzenegger presented them with an “Arnie.” They also won a software package.
Second place went to Joe Cameruca, Sam West and Wyatt West, also of UAHS, for their film, Stu Little Tennis. Of the eighteen films selected for screening at the Arena Grand Theater, seven were from UAHS. Amanda Fountain is the school's broadcasting teacher.
Third place went to Alec Martin, a film by Jessica Moeslein and Eric Thornhill of Olentangy Liberty High School in Central Ohio.
The films were short-form (15 minutes or under) and focused on individual sports endeavors and athletes who overcome adversity. The screenings and awards ceremony were held at the Arena Grand Movie Theater in Columbus, Ohio. The film festival is part of the Arnold Sports Festival.
The Arnold Sports Film Festival was sponsored by the International Sports Hall of Fame.
