Art At The Arnold To Debut at 2010 Arnold Sports Festival

Published: 2009-10-20

A three-day drawing and painting competition featuring athletes as models is the latest addition to the Arnold Sports Festival.

Art At The Arnold will feature up to 100 artists participating in a juried art competition. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will personally choose the winner of the "Arnold's Choice" award.

"The Artists are very excited about the combination of painting, drawing, using athletes as models and the Arnold Sports Festival as a backdrop," event chairman Kevin Buckland said. Artists representing many styles and mediums will gain inspiration from the beauty of the athletic form. This is a first-of-its-kind art competition and the artists are looking forward to this becoming an annual event at the Arnold Sports Festival."

Art At The Arnold will be held Friday, March 5 through Sunday, March 7 at the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival. Artists will spend Friday morning creating paintings using athletes as models. On Friday afternoon, artists will canvas the Arnold Sports Festival with digital cameras and sketchbooks to gather ideas for Saturday’s Studio Work Session.

After Saturday, artists will choose one piece to submit for the juried contest. Winners will be announced on Sunday, March 7.

A Call For Entries and Entry Form will be posted soon at www.arnoldsportsfestival.com
